Stalwart as a Managed Service

One server instead of five: email, calendar, contacts and file sharing, all in one place.
We operate Stalwart as a consolidated mail and collaboration platform – with built-in spam and phishing protection and webmail access via Bulwark.

Stalwart: Managed Operations & Support

Open Source / Enterprise

Email, calendar, contacts and file sharing on one platform – with DKIM/DMARC/SPF, spam protection and webmail via Bulwark.

  • SMTP, IMAP, JMAP, CalDAV, CardDAV & WebDAV on a single server
  • Built-in spam and phishing protection with DKIM/DMARC/SPF
  • Webmail access via Bulwark, compatible with classic email clients

What is Stalwart?

Stalwart consolidates functionality that traditionally requires several separate servers:

  • Email via JMAP (modern), IMAP, POP3 and SMTP
  • Calendar & contacts via CalDAV and CardDAV
  • File sharing via WebDAV
  • Built-in protection: DKIM, SPF, DMARC and ARC, plus spam and phishing filtering right at the SMTP inbound
  • Encryption: TLS via automatic ACME, with optional at-rest encryption using S/MIME or OpenPGP

Webmail via Bulwark

For browser-based access we also operate Bulwark – a modern, open-source webmail interface built specifically for Stalwart:

  • Email, calendar and contacts in a single interface, right in the browser
  • Server-side push instead of polling, for fast updates
  • Classic clients (Thunderbird, Outlook, mobile mail apps) remain available on request via IMAP/SMTP or CalDAV/CardDAV

What We Offer

We operate your Stalwart instance – either:

  • On your own infrastructure (on-prem, private cloud, Kubernetes is a system for managing containerized applications – automated, scalable, and fault-tolerant. Learn more →)
  • On our infrastructure (e.g. hosted in Austria)

As part of that, we handle:

  • Setting up domains, mailboxes & DNS records (MX, DKIM, SPF, DMARC)
  • Migrating existing mailboxes from Microsoft 365, Google Workspace or other providers
  • Monitoring spots problems before they escalate – active oversight, not just reacting. Learn more →, Backups are the life insurance of digital systems. Learn more → & deliverability tracking
  • Integration with Keycloak or your existing authentication

Licensing

Stalwart is available in two editions: an open Community Edition and a commercial Enterprise Edition with extended features (for example, for very large multi-tenant setups). The Community Edition fully covers most requirements. If you need Enterprise features, we advise on the right licensing option – we do not handle license procurement itself.

Not to Be Confused With Radicale

For pure calendar and contact syncing without email, we also operate Radicale – leaner and focused exclusively on CalDAV/CardDAV. Stalwart offers CalDAV/CardDAV as part of a full mail platform. We're happy to advise on which solution fits your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can existing mailboxes be migrated?

Yes. We take over existing mailboxes, including emails, contacts and calendars, from Microsoft 365, Google Workspace or other IMAP-capable providers.

Do we need a separate email client?

No. Bulwark provides a modern webmail interface right in the browser. Classic clients like Thunderbird or Outlook also work, via IMAP/SMTP or CalDAV/CardDAV.

How is deliverability ensured?

We configure DKIM, SPF and DMARC correctly and monitor the reputation of your mail server IP, so your emails reliably reach other providers.
