Object Storage (S3) as a Managed Service
Files, backups and data lakes need somewhere to live that grows with them.
We set up S3-compatible object storage for you – self-hosted with RustFS, or connected to an existing S3 provider of your choice.
Object Storage: Managed Operations & Integration
S3-compatible object storage – self-hosted with RustFS, or integrated with Hetzner Object Storage, AWS S3 and other providers.
- Self-hosted with RustFS on your infrastructure
- Integration with existing S3 providers (Hetzner, AWS, ...)
- Buckets, access rights, lifecycle rules & monitoring
Two Paths, One Goal
Object storage via the S3 API is the standard today for backups, file uploads and data exchange between systems. We offer two paths, tailored to your requirements around control, cost and compliance:
Self-Hosted With RustFS
RustFS is an S3-compatible object storage server written in Rust. We operate it on your own infrastructure or in a data center within the EEA:
- Full data sovereignty – no data ever leaves your environment
- No license costs, no dependency on a cloud provider
- Scalable on KubernetesKubernetes is a system for managing containerized applications – automated, scalable, and fault-tolerant. Learn more → or traditional VMsVirtual machines simulate full computer environments – with their own operating system, kernel, and resources. Learn more →
Integrating an Existing S3 Provider
If you'd rather rely on an established cloud provider, we integrate their S3-compatible object storage into your applications and backup processes, for example:
- Hetzner Object Storage – hosted in the EEA, cost-efficient
- AWS S3 – for existing AWS architectures
- Other S3-compatible providers on request
Credentials and the contractual relationship with the provider stay with you – we handle setup, permission management and integration into your systems.
Use Cases
- Storage target for backups & recovery
- Storage backend for Nextcloud or OCIS
- File uploads & media storage in your own applications
- Data exchange between services & data-lake scenarios
What We Handle for You
- Setting up buckets, access rights & access keys
- Lifecycle rules (e.g. automatically deleting old backups)
- Encryption at rest and in transit
- MonitoringMonitoring spots problems before they escalate – active oversight, not just reacting. Learn more → of storage consumption & access
- Migrating existing data between providers or to RustFS
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between RustFS and an external S3 provider?
We run RustFS entirely on your own or our infrastructure, giving you full data sovereignty. With an external provider like Hetzner or AWS, data resides with that provider, but we still handle setup and integration.
Can we switch between providers?
Yes. Since the S3 API is standardized, data can be migrated between RustFS and external S3 providers without changing your application logic.
Is object storage suitable for backups too?
Yes, especially so. We frequently use S3-compatible object storage as a target for Velero backups or database dumps, including lifecycle rules for automatic cleanup.
Object Storage – Matched to Your Strategy
